Michael Guinn


Mike Guinn is the founder and originator of Fort Worth National Poetry Slams and The DFW Brave New Voices Youth Poetry Slams in Dallas/Fort Worth Texas. He also the co-founder of the National Poetry Awards. He has received internationally acclaim as one of the South’s hardest working performance poets, event coordinators-host/emcee and spoken word events promoters.

Michael is internationally renowned for his powerfully passionate delivery of social awareness and relationship issues which has allowed him to be featured in plays, documentaries, PSAs, commercials, television segments, conferences, theaters and venues all over the U.S. and Canada.

He has appeared at some of the country's most prestigious spoken word venues including the Berkeley Poetry Slams, Da Poetry Lounge Los Angeles, Pasano's Houston, The Apache Cafe, South Flavas, Austin Slams, Puro Slams, Toronto, Seattle slam, The Blumenthal Charlotte, The Majestic theater in Dallas, Sacramento, Modesto, Boston, Oakland, San Francisco Chicago just to name a few. 

Michael is constantly in demand at college and high school campuses as a high energy emcee, workshop facilitator and motivational speaker. Because he is a professional whose performances are laced with a hint of southern charm, this gentleman poet has garnered a huge fan base and sells out almost all the events he is blessed to be apart.

Hollywood recognized Michael's marketability early and has asked him to promote 4 films via the art of spoken word slam to create a buzz for movie premieres (Redemption-Talk to Me-Great Debaters-For Colored Girls). He host two internet radio shows and has a huge fan base which he cultivates by being heavily involved with social issues that impact the global community.
